WALMER 2

WALMER 2

Scale, resolution and ribbon openness

Walmer 2 expands the Walmer concept into a true three-way floorstanding loudspeaker, adding deeper bass, greater scale and a more advanced driver architecture while preserving the natural warmth and long-term listenability expected from Castle.

Hand-built and hand-finished in the UK, Walmer 2 is designed for listeners who want the refinement of a Castle loudspeaker with the authority, openness and technical confidence of a serious floorstanding design.

The full expression of Walmer

Walmer 2 uses twin 150mm woven carbon fibre bass drivers, a dedicated 115mm woven carbon fibre midrange unit and a 12 × 45mm true ribbon high-frequency unit. This true three-way architecture allows each part of the loudspeaker to focus on the range it handles best.

The bass drivers provide scale, weight and low-frequency authority. The dedicated midrange unit preserves clarity through the most important part of the music. The ribbon high-frequency unit brings air, speed and openness. Together, they create a presentation that is powerful, spacious and controlled, without losing Castle’s natural musical character.

Dedicated midrange clarity

The dedicated midrange driver in Walmer 2 is housed in its own internal enclosure, isolating it from the pressure created by the bass system. This helps protect the clarity of voices, strings and acoustic instruments, where small changes in tone and texture are most easily heard.

By allowing the midrange to operate in a quieter and more controlled environment, Walmer 2 delivers greater scale without sacrificing focus. The result is a floorstanding loudspeaker that sounds large and confident, yet remains composed through the critical midband.

True ribbon treble

Walmer 2 uses the same 12 × 45mm true ribbon high-frequency unit as Walmer 1, chosen for its speed, delicacy and wide horizontal dispersion. The ribbon diaphragm’s very low moving mass allows it to follow fine high-frequency information with ease, helping reveal space, ambience and detail within recordings.

The treble is extended and expressive, but never detached from the musical whole. Its smooth integration with the dedicated midrange unit helps Walmer 2 sound open and refined, rather than bright or spotlighted.

Controlled bass for real homes

Tintagel 2 uses a downward-firing port that exits into a calculated air volume formed by the plinth. This supports extended bass performance while helping the loudspeaker integrate more easily into typical listening rooms.

The cabinet itself is engineered to remain quiet and controlled, using cast alloy driver chassis, internal bracing, bitumen damping panels and long-fibre wool absorption to reduce resonance and internal reflections.
The result is bass with weight and control, a clean midband and a treble performance that integrates naturally into the whole.

Deep, controlled bass for real rooms

Walmer 2’s floorstanding architecture gives it the scale and low-frequency authority required for larger rooms and more demanding systems. Its bass system is designed to deliver depth with control, supporting a confident foundation without excessive boom or overhang.

The cabinet is engineered to remain quiet under load, using cast alloy driver chassis, internal bracing, damping materials and long-fibre wool absorption to reduce resonance and internal reflections. This gives the drive units a more stable platform, helping bass, midrange and treble integrate naturally into one coherent performance.

Effortless system matching

With its 8-ohm-compatible behaviour and useful sensitivity, Walmer 2 is designed to partner comfortably with a wide range of high-quality amplifiers. It offers the authority expected from a floorstanding loudspeaker without demanding exotic system matching.

Its composed, natural voicing makes it equally suited to traditional hi-fi systems and more contemporary source-and-amplifier combinations, giving listeners a clear upgrade path without losing the musical ease that defines Castle.

Hand-built in the United Kingdom

Every pair of Walmer 2 loudspeakers is hand-built and hand-finished in the United Kingdom as part of Castle’s completed Made in UK loudspeaker family.
From cabinet construction and veneer finishing through to final assembly and testing, each loudspeaker reflects Castle’s long-standing commitment to British craftsmanship and engineering integrity.

More than simply a place of manufacture, it represents the continuation of a philosophy that values quality, longevity and the satisfaction of ownership as highly as acoustic performance.

Walmer 2 is the most complete expression of the Walmer series: a beautifully crafted British floorstander with carbon fibre control, ribbon openness and the scale to fill real rooms with natural, confident music.
