Natural sound from a compact cabinet

At the heart of Tintagel 1 is a 130mm advanced fibre bass/midrange driver. The cone material is light, responsive and naturally well damped, helping the driver reproduce vocals and instruments with clarity, texture and ease.

This gives Tintagel 1 its open midrange character: articulate without sounding hard, detailed without sounding overexposed, and warm without becoming soft or indistinct.

Smooth treble, wider listening

The 28mm silk-dome treble unit is partnered with a shallow waveguide to help control high-frequency dispersion. This allows the treble to integrate smoothly with the bass/midrange driver and helps Tintagel 1 sound balanced across a wider listening area.

The result is a top end that feels refined and spacious, rather than bright or forced. It supports long listening sessions and works naturally in real homes, not only in ideal demonstration spaces.

Engineered for real rooms

Tintagel 1 uses a carefully tuned rear reflex port to support bass extension from its compact cabinet. Its cabinet structure includes cast alloy driver chassis, bitumen damping panels, internal bracing and long-fibre wool absorption, all working together to reduce cabinet colouration and preserve clarity.

It is a loudspeaker designed to be enjoyed, not fussed over. Careful positioning will always bring benefits, but Tintagel 1 does not demand extreme toe-in or difficult system matching to sound composed and musical.

A cabinet designed to disappear

Every aspect of Tintagel 1's cabinet has been engineered to minimise unwanted colouration, allowing the drive units to perform with greater accuracy. Cast alloy driver chassis provide a rigid mounting platform, while internal bracing, strategically applied damping panels and long-fibre wool acoustic absorption reduce vibration and internal reflections. The result is a quieter enclosure that preserves low-level detail, improves stereo imaging and allows the music to emerge with greater clarity and natural expression.

Hand-built in the United Kingdom

Every Tintagel 1 loudspeaker is hand-built and hand-finished in the United Kingdom as part of Castle's renewed commitment to British loudspeaker manufacturing. From the carefully crafted cabinet to the final assembly and finishing, each pair reflects Castle's long-standing belief that exceptional sound begins with exceptional craftsmanship. More than simply a place of manufacture, it represents the continuation of a tradition built on quality, precision and a passion for music.

Tintagel 1 distils everything that makes a Castle loudspeaker special into its most compact form—beautifully crafted, naturally musical and engineered to deliver years of rewarding listening.
